Thor Roos Hollywood, CA -- Encore Senior Colorist Thor Roos is now Vice President of Business Strategy for the post production and VFX company’s Vancouver office, reporting to Encore Executive Vice President Bill Romeo. Within the new role, Roos will focus on expanding Encore’s presence in Vancouver and will continue color grading select projects. A stalwart fixture in the Vancouver post industry for more than 20 years, Roos has been a guiding force at Encore since joining the company in 2012.

“Vancouver is a thriving post production hub full of untapped possibilities. Thor has already been a considerable asset to Encore, and his inherent understanding of this market makes him aptly suited to help take the facility to the next level,” said Romeo.

“When it comes to post production workflows, Encore Vancouver has the leading talent in the area and a reputation to match. I look forward to building on my long-standing relationships and introducing clients to our well-honed 4K capabilities,” Roos noted.

Starting his career transferring film negatives and prints to video, Roos discovered a passion for film, a love he’s maintained as the industry transitioned to primarily digital workflows. Roos has blended this passion and years of invaluable experience with his creativity and knowledge to make him one of Vancouver’s most sought after colorists. Currently using Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve, he recently completed grading the first season of The Intruders for BBC America, ABC reality show The Quest and The Weinstein Company animated feature film Escape from Planet Earth, which was done in 3D as well as 2D. In addition to Encore, Roos has held various positions at Technicolor and Command Post.

The Vancouver arm of Encore, a Deluxe Entertainment Services company, was established in 2012 and has quickly become a rising star in the area. Equipped with top-notch talent and robust infrastructure, Encore Vancouver also leverages the collective mindshare of Encore's global network. Presently, the facility is working on The Flash, Arrow and Once Upon a Time, among others.
