Roland Emmerich is set to remake classic '60s sci-fier, FANTASTIC VOYAGE, at 20th Century Fox, VARIETY reports. Marianne and Cormac Wibberley (NATIONAL TREASURE) are negotiating a deal to pen the screenplay.
The original followed five scientists, who are shrunk down inside a ship so they can be injected into the bloodstream of a dying colleague and remove his blood clot.
Emmerich's Centropolis Ent. partner Michael Wimer and James Cameron's Lightstorm Ent. are producing.
Ten years ago Emmerich circled the possibility of remaking FANTASTIC VOYAGE, but a script could never be agreed upon. His next film is the epic 10,000 B.C., which Warner Bros. and Legendary will release on March 7, 2008.
