ElementFX and Yanick Dusseault Join Forces

Yanick Dusseault, one of the most accomplished visual effects digital matte artists working today, has joined ElementFX as its art director. ElementFX is a digital post-production studio.

In naming Dusseault to the new post, Marjolaine Tremblay, the company's ceo/animation director, said, "Luring Yanick to our studio is a real coup for ElementFX. His expertise and wonderful reputation allow him to be very selective. The fact that he was drawn to our company's philosophy of client and artist collaboration is indicative of who we are and where we are heading."

Dusseault was most recently with Industrial Light & Magic as a senior member of the digital matte department, where he worked on such projects as PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL and its sequel, DEAD MAN'S CHEST; WAR OF THE WORLDS; STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH; and the upcoming ERAGON. Prior to ILM, Dusseault was senior matte artist at Weta Digital on the first two installments of the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy.

His previous experience also includes numerous television and commercial credits. Dusseault has been honored with three nominations for the Visual Effects Society's VES Awards in the categories of Outstanding Matte Painting and Outstanding Digital Environment; he won a VES award for his work on PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL.

"I'm very excited to join the group of artists that Marjo has brought together," explains Dusseault, who will also be the senior matte artist. "Working collaboratively with filmmakers is the future of the visual effects industry. In a short time, ElementFX has done impressive work and stayed true to its vision of building teams of artists and clients. I am very excited about this opportunity."

Since opening the doors on its brand new studio, ElementFX has completed a number of projects. THE DARWIN AWARDS, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, featured several visual effects sequences courtesy of ElementFX. Picturehouse, the new joint venture of HBO and New Line Cinema, also unveiled its new film logo at this year's Sundance. Other completed work includes the 3D digital environments in Walt Disney's hit INVINCIBLE and the award-winning independent feature VALLEY OF THE HEART'S DELIGHT, which debuted at the Houston Film Festival in 2006. Projects in production include the promotional trailer for SLEEPER CELL: AMERICAN TERROR, Showtime's sequel to last year's Emmy and Golden Globe nominated miniseries, SLEEPER CELL; and IN BLOOM, for director Vadim Perelman (HOUSE OF SAND and FOG) produced by Todd Wagner and 2929 Prods., a Todd Wagner/Mark Cuban Co.

ElementFX is located in Marin County, the premiere visual effects and animation community. It specializes in bringing the best talent together for each specific and individual project, utilizing the specialized talent pool that resides in Marin and capitalizing on the recent restructuring of the larger visual effects companies. Tremblay founded ElementFX in 2005 in association with a network of Canadian post-production and creative boutiques. With 15 years of industry relationships, she has the ability to structure creative teams comprised of award-winning visual effects supervisors, animators, compositors, matte painters and digital artists. The ElementFX network is a subsidiary of specialty production and post-production boutiques based in Toronto, Canada. The result of being part of this larger family allows it to broaden its full-service offerings in a variety of cost-effective packages for U.S., Canadian and international visual effects productions.
