Eidos Announces Year End Results

Eidos plc, one of the world's leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, announced the results for the fourth quarter and year ended March 31, 2001. Net revenue was 22.6 million pounds (US$32.1 million) for the quarter and 143.5 million pounds ($203.8 million) for the full year, a decrease of 26% on the previous year. On a US GAAP basis, the Group had a pre-exceptional loss before tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2001 of 26.9 million pounds ($38.3 million) bringing the total for the year to 40.9 million pounds ($58.1 million) compared to a pre-exceptional loss before tax of 30.6 million pounds in 2000. The loss is attributed to a decrease in sales due to consumers desire to wait until the next generation consoles, like PlayStation 2 and Xbox, hit stores.
