Lost Pencil Animation Studios Inc. is now offering a training DVD
focusing on character animation. THE ANIMATOR'S GYM contains nearly 4
hours of training video that teaches the fundamental principles of
character animation. Using Maya 4.0 Complete, THE ANIMATOR'S GYM
provides viewers with examples of completed short animations to
discuss how and why it was animated, where there are still problems
and room for improvement. The DVD also includes sections where the
animator works from scratch, so students can see the animation
process in action and contains the original scene files of the
completed Animator's Gym animation, and a number of character rigs
for students to learn and play with. Although most beneficial to
users of Maya 4.0 Complete, the intent of the DVD is not to teach
Maya but to focus on character animation, meaning the training can be
useful for character animators that use different animation packages
that have a similar toolset. However, Maya is required for playing
with the included scene files and character rigs. For more
