Tisch Offers High Schoolers Summer Toon Program

New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts offers a four-week intensive immersion into the world of animation. Traditional, hand-drawn animation and high-tech programs will be offered. The course will run from July 11-Aug. 5, 2005. Deadline for applications is March 11.

Matt Sheridan, full-time teacher at Tisch and working professional, will teach the course. Students make their own films using flipbooks, stopmotion puppets, camera-less drawing on film, clay animation, 2D and 3D CG. Macintosh computers and Maya software will be used. Students will produce a two-minute piece by course end.

All applications must be received by March 11, 2005. Applicants must be current high school juniors (entering senior year in fall 2005), though applications from current high school sophomores (entering junior year in fall 2005) of exceptional maturity are considered. Admission is based on students applications, essays, recommendations, and transcripts. Applicants should have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
