Detroit, Michigan's College for Creative Studies (CCS) Animation and Digital Media department will welcome a group of industry experts in 2002. Lanfranco Aceti, Thom Gillespie and Bill Tomlinson will be guest speakers at a series of presentations hosted by the college. Lanfranco Aceti is a digital artist and a Ph.D. researcher in fine art at Central Saint Martins in London. He has been focusing on the cross-platform media as expression of the contemporary avant-garde. Aceti will be giving an open presentation on November 25, 2002 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Thom Gillespie is a director and creator of the Masters in Immersive Mediated Environments (MIME) program at Indiana University, which has been ranked as one of the top new media programs in North America. He will be giving an open presentation from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on December 2, 2002. Finally, Bill Tomlinson, an animator, researcher and media artist who has collaborated on interactive installations at SIGGRAPH, Ars Electronica and a number of other venues will be giving open presentations on December 9, 2002 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, and on December 10, 2002 from 11:45 am - 1:00 pm. All presentations are free and open to the public and will be held in the Wendell W. Anderson, Jr. Auditorium in the Walter B. Ford II Building, located on Frederick Douglass between John R and Brush on the CCS campus. The College for Creative Studies is a private, fully accredited four-year college that offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in animation and digital media, communication design, crafts, fine arts, illustration, industrial design, interior design and photography.
