Eden FX to Produce VFX for Surface and Invasion

Eden FX has been signed to produce original CG vfx for two major new fall 2005 TV series, NBCs SURFACE (which debuted Sept. 19, 2005) and ABCs INVASION (which debuts Sept. 21). The two new series join Edens contributions to COMMANDER IN CHIEF, and its on-going contributions to the hit TV series LOST, ALIAS and NAVY: NCIS.

Regarding the new assignments, Eden FX co-president John Gross said, We are thrilled to be working on these two new, high-profile, effects-heavy series. They are creatively challenging and utilize our capabilities to the fullest in terms of character animation, digital matte paintings and compositing. I am extremely pleased with the companys continuing growth in television effects.

For Rockfish Films and NBC Universal, Eden FXs primary visual effects work on SURFACE is the creation and animation of CG creatures. These digital actors must integrate seamlessly into the live-action plates. In addition to the extensive character animation, the company is also creating CG water effects, underwater digital environments and photorealistic CG vehicles.

The storyline of SURFACE, starring Lake Bell, revolves around the question of what the world would be like if a new form of sea life began to appear in locales all over the Earth? Naval officers in the South Antarctic Sea, a family in San Diego, the Oceanographic Institute in Monterey and fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico find out in this new series, in which innocent sea creatures may be more than they seem.

For Warner Bros Television and ABC, Eden FX is providing an array of CG visual effects for the series INVASION. These include the creation and composition of CG water, vehicles and environments as well as extensive matte paintings and set extensions.

The storyline for INVASION poses the question, What if aliens were already here on planet Earth, living among us? And what if all of the natural disasters the world has been experiencing recently were smokescreens designed to mask something far more ominous? Florida Sheriff Russell Poole (William Fichtner) investigates the strange occurrences. The series is being exec-produced by Shawn Cassidy.

In addition, EDEN FX also did the CG creation of Air Force One for both the Pilot and Episode # 6 editions of ABC TVs new COMMANDER IN CHIEF series starring Gena Davis.

Hollywood-based Eden FX (www.edenfx.com) provides CG visual effects to many of televisions most popular series. The company produced all of the CG visual effects during the entire run of UPNs recently concluded series STAR TREK ENTERPRISE. It specializes in the creation and production of visual effects in the areas of 3D animation, digital matte painting, character animation and compositing.
