Summit Ent.'s THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE emerged the champion of the U.S. box office for the Independence Day weekend of July 2-4, 2010. The third in the TWILIGHT series earned $69 million for the three-day stretch and collected $161 million since its June 30th opening. The David Slade-production has visual effects from Hatch Production, Image Engine Design, Lola Visual Effects, Rodeo FX, Tippett Studio and Wildfire Visual Effects.

M. Night Shyamalan's THE LAST AIRBENDER floated into second, bending $40.5 million. With vfx from DIVE, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), Kerner Optical, Quantum Creation FX and Svengali Visual Effects, the TV adaptation brought in $56.8 million since its Thursday debut.

Disney-Pixar's TOY STORY 3 took the third slot with $30.2 million. The critics' favorite has scooped up $289 million thus far.

In at #4, Sony's GROWN UPS laughed up another $19.1 million. The Adam Sandler comedy has a cume of $77.7 million.

Tom Cruise's KNIGHT & DAY spied the fifth position with an additional $10.4 million. With vfx from Hydraulx, Rhythm & Hues, Soho VFX, Weta Digital and Wildfire Visual Effects, the Fox action comedy has snatched $45.7 million to date.

THE KARATE KID kicked in at #6, winning $8.1 million. The Sony remake has a cume of $151.6 million.

Fox's THE A-TEAM came in at seventh, earning an additional $3.15 million. With vfx from Digital Domain, Hydraulx, The Moving Picture Company (MPC), Proof and Soho VFX, the actioner has rounded up $69.2 million.

In eighth, GET HIM TO THE GREEK sung in $1.25 million, lifting its cume to $57.5 million.

DreamWorks Animation's SHREK FOREVER AFTER brought in another $847,000 in ninth. The hit flick has total box office receipts valued at $232 million.

Rounding out the top ten, Fox Searchlight's indie CYRUS made a big leap, bringing in $774,000. The John C. Reilly and Jonah Hill laugher has earned $1.49 million to date.
