East Lansing Youth Film Competition Announces Winners

The seventh annual East Lansing Children's Film Festival has announced the winners of the 2004 Youth Film Competition.

The winners are:Elementary School Division:* 1st Place: ANIMALS IN SPACE, Zoe Allen-Wickler, Suttons Bay* 2nd Place: THE MAGIC PUMPKIN, Shelby Wakenight, Marble Elementary, East Lansing* 3rd Place: THE GINGERBREAD MAN VISITS FLOYD ELEMENTARY, Mrs. Chartier's 2nd Grade Class, Floyd Elementary, Midland* Honorable Mention: OWNERS AWAY DOGS PLAY, Dana Wessels, Suttons Bay

Middle School Division:* 1st Place: GRAPES ANYONE?, Aimee Plamondon, Suttons Bay Middle School* 2nd Place: BATTLE OF TELEPATHY, Tyler Monroe and Sbusiso Dhladhla, Riddle Middle School, Lansing* 3rd Place: RESPONSIBLE ROLE MODELS OR PARTYING PARENTS?, Katie Ware, Riddle Middle School, Lansing* Honorable Mention: THE SNOWMAN, Lizzy Freed, Suttons Bay Middle School* Honorable Mention: COMMERCIAL BREAK, Brendan O'Hara and Hans Dalton, Suttons Bay Middle School

Award winners will be formally recognized and their films will be screened on Feb. 29, during the Film Festival. Award winners will also receive prize money: $100 for first, $50 for second, $25 for third. A reception will follow the award ceremony.

The East Lansing Children's Film Festival will run from Feb. 27 through Feb. 29, 2004. Films will be shown on the Michigan State University campus and the NCG Cinemas. The Festival is dedicated to showcasing films from around the globe that enrich, inspire and entertain children without violent or exploitative content.
