EA Announces Ultima Online 7th Anniversary Edition

Electronic Arts has announced the ULTIMA ONLINE 7th Anniversary Edition, commemorating the game's historic seven-year run. The special version of the longest-running online game is in development and scheduled for release this summer.

"We are very proud and excited about UO's upcoming seventh birthday, a record in the online gaming world," said Anthony Castoro, producer of UO. "To celebrate, we want to give our players the total UO experience plus a few unexpected surprises."

The 7th Anniversary Edition will include the original game as well as five expansion packs -- UTLIMA ONLINE THE SECOND AGE, ULTIMA ONLINE RENAISSANCE, ULTIMA ONLINE: THIRD DAWN, ULTIMA ONLINE: LORD BLACKTHORN'S REVENGE AND ULTIMA ONLINE: AGE OF SHADOWS. Players will also receive one of seven anniversary gifts, each offering an exclusive benefit to the recipient, and a collector's edition of the ULTIMA ONLINE Fan Guide, which includes exclusive art from the history of ULTIMA ONLINE and interviews with the development team and community leaders. As an added bonus, the package will feature a full version of the classic ULTIMA IX: ASCENSION, the last game in the Ultima series.

Launched in 1997, ULTIMA ONLINE was a pioneer in the world of online gaming and defined the category of massively multiplayer Internet-based entertainment. The game is offered in six languages and is played in more than 100 countries located in every time zone. The game stands as the longest-running online subscription-based game in history.
