Dwayne Johnson will take the lead in the follow-up to JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3D, titled JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND, reports Heat Vision.
Dwayne Johnson will take the lead in the follow-up to JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3D, titled JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND, reports Heat Vision. He joins original film's Josh Hutcherson. The first film's star Brendan Fraser could not work out a start date that fit his schedule.
Loosely based on THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND by Jules Verne, Johnson takes the role of Hutcherson's mom's boyfriend who joins Hutcherson on an adventure to an island with mythical monsters in an effort to save the young man's grandfather.
Brad Peyton will direct with Contrafilm's Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson, and Charlotte Huggins producing. Walden Media's Michael Bostick and Evan Turner are the exec producers.
Production will begin in late October and will take place in North Carolina and Hawai'i.
