DreamWorks Animation Shuffles Release Dates

DreamWorks Animation swaps the release dates on ‘Penguins of Madagascar’ and ‘Home.’

DreamWorks Animation will swap the release dates on Penguins of Madagascar and Home, according to a report by Variety.

Penguins of Madagascar, directed by Simon J. Smith and Eric Darnell, will now slide into the November 26, 2014 release date originally intended for Home, while the latter film will decamp for the March 27, 2015 debut spot vacated by the Madagascar spin-off. Home is being directed by Todd Wilderman.

Penguins of Madagascar will face off against Horrible Bosses 2. Home, an adaptation of the children’s book “The True Meaning of Smekday” directed by Todd Wilderman, will go up against the Will Ferrell comedy Get Hard. Both films will be released in IMAX and in 3D.

“We will continue to be as flexible as necessary when it comes to our release dates,” said Dawn Taubin, chief marketing officer at DreamWorks Animation. “We’re confident that this date switch gives both of our upcoming releases the largest opportunity for success.”
