DreamWorks Animation is set to turn Sid and Marty Krofft's LIDSVILLE into a feature film, reports The New York Times. MONSTERS VS. ALIENS director Conrad Vernon will helm. In the original live-action series, a young boy enters Lidsville, a world where hats have come to life. His adversary was the flamboyant magician Horatio J. HooDoo, originally played by Charles Nelson Reilly, and his flying top hat Hatamaran.

It's still being decided whether the film will be fully animated or a hybrid of live-action and CG. What is known is that it will be in 3-D and the filmmakers are determined to retain many of the characters and aesthetic of the original TV series.
