DreamWorks Animation has hired the married screenwriting duo of Joe Syracuse and Lisa Addario to pen its IMAGINARY ENEMIES, reports Risky Business. Mike Mitchell (SHREK FOREVER AFTER) is developing the project, which came out of a DWA retreat, with the writers.

The premise finds imaginary friends who are fed up with naughty children blaming their misdeeds on them so they seek comeuppance on the children who have now grown up. Word is the film might go the route of Sony Animation and make the film a live-action/animation hybrid.

Additionally, Syracuse and Addario are working with DWA on a ghost-theme project titled FREAKERS. They also helped develop SURF'S UP at Sony.
