Dorothy Prior is leaving her post as head of Children's BBC after two years to become controller of production resources in May, reporting to director general Mark Thompson, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
The pubcaster is searching for her successor, who will take on the sprawling BBC children's activities, which includes commissioning and scheduling a hefty slate, as well as run preschool web CBeebies and CBBC, aimed at older kids.
Children's shows are also big overseas earners for commercial arm BBC Worldwide, making the job all the more important.
CBBC is facing cuts as the parent company continues to slim down. In 2010, the department will move out of London 200 miles north to Manchester.
