Distant Corners Gains Creature Feature Rights

Sci-fi/horror entertainment Website Distant Corners has signed a deal to manage the online and licensing rights for the CREATURE FEATURES franchise. FEATURES is an upcoming HBO and Cinemax series, which will modernize versions of Samuel Z. Arkoff's 1950s classic monster movies. The first two films in the series will be THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED and WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST. The series is being produced by Lou Arkoff, Colleen Camp and Stan Winston, whose Stan Winston Studios will handle the visual effects. DistantCorners.com will feature sites dedicated to each film containing animated Webisodes, monster mythology, contests, behind-the-scenes footage and interviews. Distant Corners Entertainment Group president and CEO John Hegeman said, "We want people to understand the characters and the back story, trying to give people a lot of background information in the form of entertainment the legacy, all the mythology and the environment of CREATURE FEATURES. We will establish them to the target audience beforehand, adding different elements but always enhancing what came before." Stan Winston Studios will be creating toys based on the films and Columbia TriStar Home Video holds the worldwide video and international distribution rights.
