Disney Runs to Andron/Forster Sci-Fi Flick

Walt Disney Pictures has picked up the rights to Dave Andron’s sci-fi pitch THE RUNNER, reports Deadline.com.

Walt Disney Pictures has picked up the rights to Dave Andron’s sci-fi pitch THE RUNNER, reports Deadline.com. Marc Forster is attached to direct with Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Apparatus Entertainment’s Brad Simpson producing.

Set in 2027, the last surviving members of the human race live in the Rocky Mountains. When they discover a way to travel back in time, a volunteer comes forward to take the leap and stop the attack that left the Earth’s surface uninhabitable. However, he also has an ulterior motive to go back and save his love as well.

Andron, who developed the reboot of KNIGHT RIDER and is a supervising producer on JUSTIFIED, developed the concept with Blacklight Transmedia, which has a first look deal with Imagine. The property will be develop simultaneously as a TV series, videogame, comic book and other interactive platforms.

Blacklight's Zak Kadison is also producing with his partner Eric Lieb exec producing. Erica Huggins is shepherding for Imagine alongside Brigham Taylor and Tonia Davis for Disney.
