Disney Rolls Out 'Frankenweenie' Debut

Disney rolls out a full bag of treats leading up to today’s release of Tim Burton’s stop-motion feature, “Frankenweenie.”

Leading up to today’s opening of Tim Burton’s 3D stop-motion animated feature, Frankenweenie, Disney has rolled out a full bag of treats including a Facebook app that allows users to Frankenweenie-fy their pets.

Billed as “a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog,” Frankenweenie follows the story of young Victor, who, after unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

The studio also released a new featurette with behind-the-scenes footage of the artistry employed in making the black-and-white film:

New poster art was revealed this week as well, chock-full of classic sci-fi film references:

Several film clips showcasing Frankenweenie characters have also been made available on the web, including the freakishly adorable, Peter Lorre-infused “Edgar Knows,” featuring Atticus Shaffer as the voice of Edgar "E" Gore:
