Discreet Inks Large Sale to Art Institutes

Discreet has announced one of its largest desktop software sales to date with long-time partner The Art Institutes. The schools will distribute more than 4,000 licenses of 3ds max, character studio, combustion 3D and cleaner software to its 29 locations in the United States and Canada. Last autumn the Arts Institute purchased more than 2,000 licenses.

"As a premier educator of students in the applied arts, our mission is to prepare students for real life," said David J. Pauldine, president, The Art Institutes. "We best fulfill that mission by training our students on the most current tools in their chosen fields. For the past 10 years, we have worked closely with Discreet to ensure that our students have hands-on experience on the industry standard design and animation tools they will use in an entry-level position."

"Given that Discreet has the largest installed base of professional 3D users in the world, and that combustion and cleaner are rapidly becoming the solution of choice in compositing, visual effects and encoding, high-quality education programs, such as those offered by The Art Institutes, are essential to train more aspiring artists and operators on Discreet products," said Paul Lypaczewski, Discreet gm and Autodesk evp. "The Art Institutes, a leader in creative education, understands the importance of job opportunity for students and faculty alike and we are proud of our long standing partnership."

The Art Institutes is a system of schools, (www.artinstitutes.edu), with campuses located throughout North America, providing an educational source of design, media arts, fashion and culinary professionals.
