Names in the running to fill the director's chair include J.J. Abrams, James Mangold, GLEE's Ryan Murphy and Rob Marshall. Universal is producing.
Based on the Gregory Maguire's WICKED: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST novel, the musical follows the relationship between Glinda the Good Witch of the North and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West before the events of THE WIZARD OF OZ come to pass.
The musical is one of the highest grossing Broadway musicals of all time.
