Paramount is looking at either F. Gary Gray or Jon M. Chu to direct the G.I. JOE sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The studio wants to begin production in June, so it can have it ready for a 2012 release.

Chu helmed Paramount's JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER. Gray last directed LAW ABIDING CITIZEN.

The original Stephen Sommers-directed G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF THE COBRA made $302.5 million globally.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing the sequel.
