Winners of the 54th Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards were announced at the Shrine Auditorium on September 14, 2002. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's Darrell Hammond hosted the evening, which honors television's top talent behind the camera. In the animation-related categories, FUTURAMA, which recently found a new home on Cartoon Network, picked up its first Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program Less Than One Hour, beating out fellow Fox nominees THE SIMPSONS and KING OF THE HILL, as well as Comedy Central's SOUTH PARK and Nickelodeon's AS TOLD BY GINGER. For Outstanding Animated Program One Hour Or More, The Discovery Channel's WALKING WITH PREHISTORIC BEASTS walked away with the award, taking Emmy honors over Discovery's WHEN DINOSAURS ROAMED AMERICA and Cartoon Network's SAMURAI JACK. London's Framestore CFC completed the visual effects for Emmy winner WALKING WITH PREHISTORIC BEASTS, and they also won in the Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special for the ABC/Hallmark Entertainment mini-series DINOTOPIA (Part 3). Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series went to the new Star Trek spin-off ENTERPRISE. SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and RUGRATS were beaten by the live-action Nickelodeon special THE KIDS OF AFGHANISTAN for Outstanding Childrens Program, and the song "Youve Got A Lot To See" from Fox's FAMILY GUY won for Outstanding Music And Lyrics. The creative arts categories will have a two hour highlights telecast on E!, September 21, 2002 at 8:00 pm. Below is a full list of credits for the winners listed above.
