Digital-Tutors Releases First SOFTIMAGE|XSI ICE Nodes Reference Library

Softimage training partner Digital-Tutors have released THE ICE NODES REFERENCE LIBRARY, the first online, non-linear approach to learning every unique ICE Node in SOFTIMAGE|XSI 7, the newest version of the complete 3D package for modeling, animating, rendering, and character development. The ICE (Interactive Creative Environment) platform in XSI is a multi-threaded scalable platform that allows artists to create 3D tools and effects through connecting ICE Nodes.

By learning the functionality of every unique ICE Node, artists will have the ability to easily create custom tools, complex particle-based visual effects, and deformations in XSI without scripting a line of code. THE ICE NODES REFERENCE LIBRARY presents 10 hours of practical training to help technical directors and 3D artists learn 160 ICE Nodes in XSI.

This series offers artists of every skill level a better user experience and added flexibility to learning what, how, why, when, and where each ICE Node is used. The online exclusive library provides anytime, anywhere access and visually defines, explores, and illustrates the essential tools and techniques to accomplishing each task in ICE. THE ICE NODES REFERENCE LIBRARY has the ability to evolve and grow over time as new ICE Node features are released in XSI.

"With SOFTIMAGE|XSI 7 and the new ICE platform, Digital-Tutors - a long-term certified training partner with Softimage - is providing quality educational materials that are vital to the community," said Marc Stevens, general manager of SOFTIMAGE and vice president of Avid Technology, Inc. "THE ICE NODES REFERENCE LIBRARY is the newest offering from Digital-Tutors that helps artists and TD's quickly master ICE nodes in XSI 7 to create powerful new or enhance existing compounds that remove limits to their imagination," added Stevens.

Popular highlights from THE ICE NODES REFERENCE LIBRARY include: detailed overview of all ICE Nodes; when to use specific nodes; understanding how and why nodes work; working with vectors and matrices; applying color effects to particles and meshes; using and distorting UVs with ICE; working with strands; setting random values; conversion tricks and techniques; driving parameters with other parameters; building various deformers; creative solutions to various scenarios; emission and simulation control; particle generation; mathematical and geometric concepts in ICE; particle behavior and motion control; and condition testing and execution.
