Digital Musings From the Editor:

Last weeks E3 conference here in L.A. not only provided a plethora of exciting games on display, but also a chance to speak with industry insiders about the challenges ahead related to the next-generation consoles: Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Revolution. With PS3 and Xbox 360 in HD, you can be sure that the next versions of 3ds Max, Maya and MotionBuilder will play to their strengths with improved character animation, lighting, hair and cloth. And with a projected 50% increase in production budgets for games (around $10 million), there will be lots of job opportunities for 3D artists. You can be sure that VFXWORLD will keep you posted on how this plays out.

Meanwhile, with REVENGE OF THE SITH continuing to break box office records ($182.7M as of Tuesday), we round out the month with two more articles covering the exemplary digital environments and the all-new CG General Grievous.
