Digital Animation Studio Plastic Wax Goes Global

Sydney, Australia-based Digital animation studio Plastic Wax, who specialize in videogame production, are implementing global expansion plans that include extensive talent acquisition, investments in new technology and the opening of an office in San Francisco focused on business development.

More than 30 members have been added to the Plastic Wax team over the last few months, including producers, animators, lighting leads and rendering leads. This new talent brings a wide range of veteran creative and tech experience from the worlds of videogames, feature length films and television commercials.

Further expanding Plastic Wax's capacity to take on cutting-edge entertainment projects in 2009 is serious investments in technology for its Australian studio. Upgrading every aspect of what is already one of the most comprehensive CG facilities in the world, including a state of the art in house motion capture studio and high quality onsite audio and video production, the studio is equipped to deliver the absolute highest in cinematic quality. Plastic Wax has always specialized in pre-rendered CG animation, but the studio has also improved its expertise in "in-engine" videogame work in its ongoing efforts to work as collaboratively as possible with developers and integrate seamlessly into their production pipelines.

Plastic Wax's new office in San Francisco is being headed by Kevin Gill, a videogame industry veteran who was one of the original Brand Managers at Rockstar Games and later oversaw many brands and development projects at Eidos. As Managing Director of Global Operations for Plastic Wax, he is directing the company's expansion. The Bay Area location will act as a convenient point of contact for the vibrant game development, publishing, and entertainment communities in California and around the world.

Plastic Wax over the last three years have worked on videogame titles including BIOSHOCK, TOMB RAIDER, THE DARKNESS and WARHAMMER 40,000: DAWN OF WAR II.
