Leonardo DiCaprio via Appian Way is set to star and produce an adaptation of Erik Larson’s bestseller THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The true-life tale weaves together the story of the construction of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair's White City by architect Daniel H. Burnham and H.H. Holmes, a serial killer disguised as a doctor who murdered around the event. DiCaprio is set to play Holmes.

Appian Way's Jennifer Killoran and Double Feature's Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher will also produce.

Previously Kathryn Bigelow had been set to direct and produce. At another time, Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner were developing.
