In addition to the recently announced deal with Nickelodeon, DIC Entertainment is undertaking a major expansion into Europe with the opening of a European operations headquarters in Paris. Leslie Nelson, former managing director of international sales for BKN, has been appointed managing director of European operations for DIC and will be responsible for sales, marketing, licensing, co-productions and all other ancillary businesses in the major European territories. "The opening of a European based headquarters has long been overdue. DIC has always been an international company. We actually began as a French company. Since we became an independent company again last year we have been actively seeking someone to head our efforts in the major European markets. I doubt we could have found a more qualified or respected individual within the childrens business than Leslie Nelson," said Andy Heyward, chairman and CEO of DIC Entertainment. In addition to all of the DIC television programming initiatives, Nelson will also be directing ongoing licensing campaigns for MADELINE and new campaigns for STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE and LIBERTYS KIDS.
