STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE was originally launched by American Greetings in 1979 as a series of greeting cards. The brand was an immediate hit generating $1.2 billion at retail. The four specials are titled MEET STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE, STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKES'S BERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS, SPRING FOR STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE and STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKES'S GET WELL ADVENTURE. They take place in Strawberryland where Strawberry Shortcake, her sister Apple Dumplin' and her friends Ginger Snap, Orange Blossom, Angel Cake, Huckleberry, Custard, Pupcake and Honey Pie Pony engage in a series of magical adventures. There are five to seven original songs per special that highlight the themes of friendship, sharing and caring.
