DHX Media Signs Content Deal With Alibaba

More than 2,500 half-hours of programming available to Chinese consumers.

‘Caillou’ HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA -- Family content producer and distributor DHX Media has signed a deal to provide more than 2,500 half-hours of content to Alibaba Group’s video on demand service. Alibaba’s video service is currently available on its Tmall Box, a content-delivery set-top box, OTT devices and various smart televisions in China.

“We are very happy to provide extensive kids and family content from our library for this new service in China,” said Josh Scherba, SVP Distribution at DHX Media. “This deal underscores our position as a go-to distributor for on-demand services globally.”

The deal with Alibaba includes popular DHX Media titles such as Teletubbies, Caillou, Paddington Bear, Super WHY!, Rastamouse, Johnny Test and Martha Speaks. Users of the Alibaba platform can now watch this premium content through TV devices such as Tmall Box.
