Decode Sells Blobheads To Nick & Canal J

DECODE has sold 26 episodes of its newest series, THE BLOBHEADS, to Nickelodeon and Frances Canal J. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2002. For Nickelodeon, this deal marks the first program pre-sale across multiple territories in the U.K., Europe and Australia. Co-produced by DECODE and C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures, the series is aimed at 8-12 year olds and mixes live-action human characters with CGI aliens. Based on the book series by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell, the show will follow the adventures of Billy Barnes, whose one-year old baby brother Silas is considered the Most High Emperor of the Universe by a trio of messy aliens. "We had Nickelodeon very much in mind when we optioned THE BLOBHEADS from Macmillans Childrens Books. We are thrilled by this major deal with the channels and we are especially happy that it is one of Nickelodeons largest multi-territory deals to date. Its also great to see Canal J joining in as a strategic partner," said DECODEs London-based partner, Neil Court. Lisa Hackett, VP programming, marketing and operations, MTV Networks International, said, "Nickelodeon's acquisition of THE BLOBHEADS series across three of our networks is indicative of our commitment to seeking out and providing our viewers with the freshest, most cutting edge kids programming. We look forward to expanding our relationship with DECODE and developing new ones with other such innovative program producers." Pierre Belaisch, director of programming for Canal J, said, "Nickelodeon and Canal J have the same goals in terms of quality and originality in their programming. It was natural for us to join Nick in a pre-buy of THE BLOBHEADS from DECODE. This fun and original new show is slated to air beginning in 2002 and will be totally exclusive in France."
