DAZ Productions, a 3D figure development studio, has announced the completion for their new animated short A NEW BREED. The 30-second action short was made to highlight the power and versatility of "stock" DAZ models when combined with the tools of Lightwave. The short uses DAZ's Michael and Victoria characters. The short is meant to highlight DAZ's many completed figures, which can save time and provide animators with a limitless number of body and facial types through the use of morph targets. NEW BREED was created in Curious Labs Poser Pro Pac, which allowed DAZ artists to port the Poser characters and animation directly into Lightwave via the Poser to Lightwave plug-in. Once the Poser scene was opened in Lightwave, the artists were able to use Lightwave's vast tool library such as volumetrics, ray-tracing and motion blur. Through the use of this plug-in, Lightwave and 3D Studio Max users have an entire library of figures, props and maps to use. All character animation was done in Poser 4 Pro and rendered in Lightwave 6.5. A NEW BREED can be downloaded from www.daz3d.com.
