David Bloom Joins MGM Corp. Communications

High-tech/entertainment journalist David Bloom has joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. as vp corporate communications. Bloom will help coordinate company-wide publicity and media relations, work on political and technological issues with the MPAA, and assist in all internal and external corporate communications initiatives.

"David is one of the most respected entertainment reporters in the business, and his previous experience in entertainment, technology and political journalism will be a great asset to our corporate communications team and the company as a whole," said Chris McGurk, vice-chairman/coo MGM. Bloom reports to Janet Janjigian, svp of corp. communications.

Bloom comes to MGM after more than 20 years as a journalist. He most recently was a staff reporter at VARIETY, writing about the film business, entertainment technology, the video game industry, politics and other issues. He was a media and entertainment writer at RED HERRING magazine, and spent eight years at the LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS covering state and local politics, health and transportation, entertainment and technology.

Prior to the DAILY NEWS, Bloom covered politics, government and investigative projects as a staff writer for the RIVERSIDE PRESS-ENTERPRISE, the DALLAS TIMES HERALD, the AMARILLO GLOBE-NEWS, the MEMPHIS PRESS-SCIMITAR and other papers.

He has won numerous prestigious awards for investigative journalism, including three Texas Associated Press Managing Editor Awards as well as an award from the Society of Professional Journalists.
