Starlight Home Ent. has released the childrens classic DAVEY AND GOLIATH VOLUME 1 on DVD. The nostalgic stop-motion animated series will be released in a special edition collectors set loaded with tons of extras. DAVEY AND GOLIATH originally aired on network TV from 1960-1975, with special seasonal TV airings seen throughout the years. VOLUME 1 will hit shelves on June 7, 2005, and sell for $19.99.
The special two-disc collectors edition features all-time classic episodes, which have been color corrected and digitally mastered. This collectors edition VOLUME 1 includes Stranded on an Island, The Kite, Blind Mans Bluff and Finders Keepers, plus the 30-minute summer camp special, To The Rescue. DVD extras include OH DAVEY!...HISTORY OF DAVEY AND GOLIATH TELEVISION SERIES, a 60-minute documentary that includes the history of DAVEY AND GOLIATH, interviews with the creators, and special behind-the-scenes footage of DAVEY AND GOLIATHS SNOWBOARD CHRISTMAS. An interactive DAVEY AND GOLIATH Read-A-Long by Scholastic Inc. is also included.
The show follows the travails of a young boy named Davey Hansen, who, along with his trusted dog Goliath, faces some of life's moral questions and challenges. Davey often stumbles along the path of discovery, typical of most children his age. But by relying on his own value system and seeking the advice and direction of adults like his parents, teachers and others, Davey is able to navigate through each episodes moral conflicts with important lessons about his own life learned along the way.
DAVEY AND GOLIATH was conceived and funded by the United Lutheran Church in America, later by the Lutheran Church in America. During the 1960s and 70s, two television series and several specials were produced by Clokey Prods. Inc. Today, DAVEY AND GOLIATH is owned by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Clokey Prods. was founded by Art and Ruth Clokey, creators of GUMBY, the original stop-motion animated series.
