The horror flick DARKNESS FALLS, with visual effects by Animal Logic and Sony Pictures Imageworks, debuted with $12M, which was enough to top the comedy KANGAROO JACK, with visual effects by Asylum and The Secret Lab, which collected $11.6M for a two-week total of $35.4M. Buoyed by three Golden Globe wins, the jazzy musical CHICAGO expanded to an additional 59 theaters and went from sixth place to third, earning $8.4M this weekend for a total of $40.3M to date.
