Cut&Paste Call For Competitors 2009

The Cut&Paste Call for Competitors is open for entries. Got skills in 2D, 3D, or Motion? You could be one of the designers selected to represent your city in two fast-paced, single-elimination rounds in 3D and one round for Motion, each with a unique design theme and set time limit.

The annual global tournament is set to zip across 16 cities this year, from February through June 2009, and Cut&Paste is once again challenging designers from various backgrounds and nations across the map to dig deep and design their way into the spotlight. Introducing five new cities, two new competition formats, and the first-ever Global Championship event, Cut&Paste invites 2D, 3D, and motion designers everywhere to compete for international stardom. And with the addition of the new Show&Tell series while continuing our ever-popular Audience Design Contests, the 2009 tournament is one you won't want to miss.

All entries received by the regional deadline are reviewed based on portfolio quality. Top candidates will be invited to a local Test Rounds event, where potential competitors will take on the challenge of simulated competition rounds and meet their city's Cut&Paste team. Note: Attendance at Test Rounds is mandatory. See the entry form for details.

The final selection of competitors will take place based on their performance at Test Rounds. Competitors will be notified and announced on the Cut&Paste website in February 2009. All selected competitors will face off in their own cities during Cut&Paste's four-month global tour in 2009. This will be the largest tournament yet, with a total of three hundred competitors around the world. At the end of the tour, the three winners from each city (one in 2D, one in 3D, and one in Motion), 48 winners in all-will converge in New York City in for the final showdown: the first-ever Cut&Paste Global Championship on June 20, 2009.

One Grand Prize Winner from each category in each city will receive an expenses paid trip to New York City for the Global Championships in addition to other prizes. For a complete list of prizes, click here.

In addition to 2D, 3D, and Motion Design competitions, Cut&Paste is rounding out this year's highly interactive tournament program with the introduction of its Show&Tell series, as well as continuing its ever-popular Audience Design Contests that will allow event-goers to get a taste of what a global design competition is all about. The Show&Tell sessions featured at each city event will create a casual, dynamic setting where talented designers can share their work, techniques, ideas, and inspiration with the Cut&Paste crowd through live demonstrations and creative presentations.

The 2009 Call for Competitors is open for entries in 2D, 3D, and Motion Design, and submissions are being accepted for Show&Tell presenters. Visit http://www.cutandpaste.com to enter and to view the complete 2009 tour schedule.
