Cusack Replaces Slater in Animated Igor

John Cusack has signed on to replace Christian Slater as the title character in Exodus Film Group's feature IGOR. Exodus also announced that WILL & GRACE's Emmy and SAG award winning actor Sean Hayes has also joined the cast as Igor's sidekick Brian The Brain.

"John and Sean are both terrific actors and ideally cast in their roles," said IGOR director, Tony Leondis. "We couldn't be more excited to have them join an already fantastic voice cast."

The cast also includes: Emmy winner Jeremy Piven (ENTOURAGE) as Dr. Schadenfreude, Igor's nemesis; Jay Leno as King Malbert, Malaria's shrewd and fiendish ruler; Jennifer Coolidge (FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION, AMERICAN PIE films) as Jaclyn, the village vixen; Molly Shannon (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE) as Eva, a giant, indestructible Monster invented by Igor; Steve Buscemi (CHARLOTTE'S WEB, FARGO) as Scamper, Igor's super intelligent and ill-tempered lab rabbit; and John Cleese as Dr. Glickenstein, Igor's evil master.

IGOR tells the story of an evil scientist's hunchbacked lab assistant with big dreams of becoming a scientist himself and winning the annual Evil Science Fair.

The CG-animated film is being produced at Paris, France-based Sparx Animation Studios, SAS. Set for an October 24, 2008, release, the film will be distributed by The Weinstein Co., which has an all-encompassing theatrical and DVD distribution deal including North America as well as representing international rights. TWC secured film distribution for most foreign territories, including TFM in France, at last year's Cannes Film Festival and American Film Market as well as the recent European Film Market in Berlin.

The film was written by Chris McKenna (AMERICAN DAD) and produced by Max Howard, who has collaborated on numerous animated blockbusters such as Disney's LION KING and ALADDIN, and Warner Bros.' SPACE JAM and THE IRON GIANT. Eric Robinson is overseeing on behalf of The Weinstein Co.
