Boston and Los Angeles-based filmmaker Paul Cummings has signed with LA-based creative studio DUCK. The versatile talent works in the realms of commercial advertising, music videos and short films, with a specialty in stop motion. Cummings' ad work includes high-profile clients New Balance, Flip Video, Zipcar, the Webby Awards, Kyoto Planet, McDonald's, Go-Gurt, Red Vines, Shoe Carnival, Power Rangers, Proximus (Belgium), MTN (South Africa), and Nestle. He has worked with notable agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Dentsu, Alma DDB, and 22squared among others.
Many of Cummings' popular short films have played the festival circuit and have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times online by fans all over the world. His Webby Award-nominated stop-motion film Tony vs. Paul, which became a major viral success with more than six million online views, took home the top prize in iFilm's "Show Us Your Junk" competition and played in festivals and on TV in the US, the UK and Japan.
"Paul brings many things to DUCK - enhanced stop-motion capabilities, a major client list, and the talent and experience to cross over into other genres when necessary," noted DUCK EP Mark Medernach. "He has exactly the right balance of creativity, enthusiasm and ambition to fit in perfectly with our existing roster, and we're happy to add his considerable talents to our team."
Prior to joining DUCK, Cummings ran his own production company and worked with Los Angeles-based Ka-chew! "While I've been able to get a lot done working on my own and with other companies, I wanted to step up to a studio that had the capabilities and connections to take me to the next level," noted Cummings. "DUCK, with their superior facilities and history of working in all areas of production, was the perfect place to land. I'm looking forward to getting started."
