Creative Bubble Pops Openings For Two New Showtime Shows

Broadcast design and visual effects firm Creative Bubble has created the title sequences and promos for Showtime's SNOW IN AUGUST and GOING TO CALIFORNIA. For the TV movie SNOW IN AUGUST, the promo features a young boy walking through a snowy landscape and through an iron gate. "The film deals with a young boy in the '40s who is in love with comics and comic book imagery," explained Showtime art director Damian Mager. "We decided to make his world much like that of a comic book." Creative Bubble designer Doug Dimon said, "The producers had selected the clip for the titles. We took it and shaped it, desaturating the color, adding textures, and slowing the speed to create a languid, floating atmosphere. It was pretty challenging since the shot was set and we had to dig in to get what we wanted." For the series GOING TO CALIFORNIA, the opening features a car speeding down a wide-open highway, with superimposed road signs and titles flying by. "It's for a series about two friends taking a cross country road trip," said Mager. " We wanted it to be bright and straightforward as a reflection of that."
