Corus Kids Announces Fall 2008 Programming Lineup

Kids' broadcaster Corus Ent. has released highlights from its 2008 fall schedules and the launch of Nickelodeon Sundays, a brand new 3-hour programming block on YTV jam-packed with Nickelodeon shows including a new animated series from Amy Poehler, THE MIGHTY B. Also new to YTV's fall schedule is the finale of THE NEXT STAR, Canada's search for a young singing sensation; new shows from Holly Hobbie and Bert and Ernie on Treehouse, and Discovery Kids' new take on science with SCIQ.

YTV Programming Highlights Include:

Nickelodeon SundaysPremieres: Sunday, September 7 at 9 a.m.YTV dedicates Sunday mornings to the best programming from Nickelodeon as the dial turns over from 9 a.m. to noon with a schedule of back-to-back Nickelodeon series including THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS, BACK AT THE BARNYARD, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, THE MIGHTY B, ICARLY and THE NAKED BROTHERS BAND.

THE MIGHTY BPremieres: Sunday, September 7 at 10:30 a.m.Nickelodeon animated comedy, THE MIGHTY B, created and voiced by SNL's Amy Poehler, follows the adventures of 10-year-old Bessie Higgenbottom, the world's most ambitious Honeybee scout, who wears her uniform every single day, leads her troop with a zeal General Patton would have admired, and has earned more Bee Badges than any Honeybee in history. However, a bunch of badges still elude her, and Bessie won't rest until she's earned them all.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MENPremieres: Saturday, September 6 at 7 p.m.After 50 years of best-selling comic books, three blockbuster movies, a massive fan-base spanning all ages, the new animated series WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN joins the YTV schedule. When an explosive event shatters the lives of the X-Men and takes away their mentor, the beaten heroes decide to walk away from it all. But after a rare glimpse into the future, Wolverine takes the lead and reunites the broken band to embark upon the ultimate mission -- preventing the world's destruction.

BIG FUN FRIDAYSPremieres: Friday, September 5 at 6 p.m.YTV is all about fun and this fall is no exception as the network stamps Friday evenings "Big Fun Fridays!" The programming block gets going this fall with the continuation of the popular talent search competition THE NEXT STAR, hosted by Adamo Ruggiero (DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION), followed by a family viewing blockbuster movie for everyone to enjoy at 7 p.m.

THE MR. MEN SHOWPremieres: Wednesday, September 3 at 2:30 p.m.(regular timeslot Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 2:30 p.m.)From the popular 1970s children's books by Roger Hargreaves comes the original animated series, THE MR. MEN SHOW. Welcome to Dillydale, home of Mr. Men and Little Misses where every day brings new and exciting adventures for the town's many personalities. Whether you're happy, messy, grumpy or naughty -- it doesn't matter what mood you're in -- in Dillydale there is always someone waiting for you.

SciqPremieres: Monday, September 1 at 7 p.m.(regular timeslots: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays at 12 p.m.)In SCIQ, energetic young hosts Andrew and Paula take on the challenge of testing their science knowledge based on a specific theme each week. Viewers will learn about science through adventure as this series explores the future of living underwater, the magic of movie making, and what it takes for a detective to investigate a crime scene.

WILLA'S WILD LIFEPremieres: Monday, September 1 at 6 p.m.Produced by Corus Ent.'s Nelvana Studio, this Canadian production based on the book AN OCTOPUS FOLLOWED ME HOME centers around Willa -- an unforgettable little girl who brings home stray penguins and rabbits instead of cats and dogs. So far, this 6-year-old critter collector has adopted a giraffe, a couple of elephants, an alligator and so many other exotic animals, there's barely room in Willa's room for Willa. Willa's animals are not just her friends, they offer advice and counsel, giving her their unique and often humorous takes on problem-solving.

Children can enjoy perennial favourites Oscar the Grouch, Bert and Ernie, Big Bird, Elmo and the newest member, Abby Cadabby, a three-year-old who loves magic and is strong, smart and funny.

THE ADVENTURES OF BERT AND ERNIEPremieres: Tuesday, September 2 at 4 p.m.(airs every Tuesday and Thursday at 4 p.m.)In this new series of five-minute interstitials, claymation versions of Bert and Ernie use their imaginations to travel to far-off places in a fun spin on these familiar friends.

TOOT & PUDDLEPremieres: Tuesday, September 2 at 10:30 a.m.This whimsical series based on the books from celebrated author and artist Holly Hobbie follows the adventures of two fun-loving, inquisitive but very different best friends. Toot, the pig, is a globe-trotting adventurer, who is constantly on the lookout for a new challenge. Puddle is the backyard explorer of the pair; although he enjoys travelling, he prefers to find fun closer to home.

ODD-JOBBERSPremieres: Monday, September 1 at noonODD-JOBBERS is the tale of four slightly odd but very friendly characters who live in a small village known as Patchville. They are the Mendits. There are three brothers Osimo, Bitz and Bob -- and their cousin Mia. They run a small business in Patchville, Odd-jobbing -- helping others by fixing, building, cleaning or whatever else is required. No job is too big, small or too odd for them.
