Press Release from Coolabi

London, 25 October 2011. Leading children’s and family entertainment producer and rights management company Coolabi is working with Whiteleys Shopping Centre in London to open the world’s first pop-up shop dedicated to the classic favourites Bagpuss and Clangers. Coolabi represents the rights to both properties, created and owned by Smallfilms and Peter Firmin.

The Bagpuss & Co. shop is open for a limited time during half-term from 25-30 October when members of the public will be able to see the original Bagpuss and Clangers puppets, meet Peter Firmin, hear the Bagpuss theme tune performed by the original show’s music composer, Sandra Kerr, and shop for exclusive merchandise.

The exterior of the Bagpuss & Co. shop will replicate Emily’s famous Bagpuss store from the show, whilst the interior will be a visual feast for Bagpuss and Clangers fans. Stocking everything from plush toys and greeting cards to DVDs and microwaveable Bagpuss slippers, the shop is a must-visit for those wanting to get their hands on the range of unique merchandise.

Fran Huxley, Licensing Consultant at Coolabi, says: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Whiteleys Shopping Centre on this exciting initiative.  From a licensing perspective it will be a fantastic opportunity to see all of the available merchandise on sale in one place. We are confident that the pop-up shop and exhibition will generate a huge amount of interest.”

Proceeds from selected Bagpuss products will go directly to support the charity Asthma UK and proceeds from certain Clangers merchandise will go to supporting Yorkshire Cancer Research.
