Company 3, Centro Combine Forces on Hong Kong Disneyland Spot

Post house Company 3 and Hong Kong VFX company Centro utilize remote technology to allow Company 3's Stefan Sonnenfeld to grade a thrilling, VFX-filled Halloween-themed spot for the Haunted Halloween attraction at Disneyland, Hong Kong.

SANTA MONICA, CA – Post house Company 3 and Hong Kong visual effects company Centro (a Deluxe sister company) utilized sophisticated remote technology to allow Company 3's Stefan Sonnenfeld to grade a thrilling, VFX-filled Halloween-themed spot for the Haunted Halloween attraction at Disneyland, Hong Kong. Sonnenfeld worked out of his color grading bay in Santa Monica while interfacing with clients seeing his real-time corrections from Centro's theater halfway across the world.

The spot, which Centro also produced, focuses on Disneyland's special offerings timed around Halloween--a day that has grown to be extremely popular in Hong Kong. The creepy but colorful fantasy-style advertisement, combining real actors and extensive VFX, brings the spirit of the attraction to life with strange animals and characters inhabiting a beautiful, evocative night. Centro shot the original material, created all the VFX elements and oversaw the editorial.

"The session was a tremendous success," declares Sonnenfeld, who collaborated in real time with the Centro creative team and their Hong Kong Disneyland clients, while they watched the grading take shape in real time. "It's a great example of the way our technology can overcome former barriers such as the great distance between these two facilities."

"It is a significant advantage we have to be able to offer our clients internationally renowned color grading talent such as Stefan Sonnenfeld," says John Chu, General Manager of Centro. "This technology allows Centro to offer the Hong Kong production community access to a worldwide talent pool."

"Hong Kong has an extremely robust film industry and is the center of a great deal of high-end commercial production," Sonnenfeld explains. "Our relationship with Centro puts us in the middle of all that."
