Burbank-based animation house Renegade Animation has created the newest Chester Cheetah ads for Frito-Lay, entitled "Quiz Show" and "Ice Sculptor." The first spot pits Chester in a quiz show where the grand prize is a convertible filled with Cheetos Xs and Os snacks. Once his craving reaches its summit, Chester dives from his podium and starts to eat the scrumptious snacks. "Ice Sculptor" brings together two items that don´t mix: Flamin´ Hot Cheetos and ice sculptures. An ice artist is finishing up a giant penguin when Chester rides in on a snowboard eating Flamin´ Hot Cheetos. The heat blast from Chester´s breath melts the icy bird and sends the artist into a pool of water. Both commercials blend cel animation, live-action and CGI. Especially in "Ice" the Renegade team had to blend the cel Chester, miniature ice penguin, live-action actors and CGI backgrounds seamlessly. Darrell Van Citters (ELMO AARDVARK: OUTER SPACE DETECTIVE) served as the director and Ashley Postlewaite executive produced. The ad was commissioned by BBDO in New York.
