Tony Caio designs Food Network program ID

Tony Caio of New York City-based DMA has designed a new program ID and
title sequence for The Food Network's "Hot Off the Grill with Bobby Flay."
In the ID, a Bobby Flay caricature appears in black tie, and juggles a
cocktail shaker, slab of steak, shrimp, and a pickle. Stylized stars dance
in the background. Dancing pieces of food spin across the screen and circle
onto plates, as the show's logo comes back into view, pulsating in a
painterly fashion.

Warner Bros. animates Tom and Jerry

Sherman Oaks, California-based Warner Bros. TV Animation Studio has
completed a spot featuring the classic cartoon characters, Tom and Jerry,
in Promise Buttery Light "Butter Trouble," a :30 for New York-based agency
McCann Erickson. In the cel-animated spot, Tom attempts to trick Jerry by
switching Promise Buttery Light for plain butter.

J.J. Sedelmaier completes spots for Old Navy

White Plains, New York-based J.J. Sedelmaier has completed two :30 spots
for Old Navy. "Girls Zip Pocket Flares" features a young magician who
conjures up and controls Old Navy's new zip pocket jeans for her friends.
In "Boys Boarder Jeans," boys show off their large style jeans while
walking the dog, sawing a log, talking to a frog, and paying the rent while
skateboarding. The spots feature a '60s retro-style designed by David
Sheldon.

Filmtecknarna completes beer spot

Stockholm, Sweden-based Filmtecknarna F. Animation has completed the
animation for "Chilled Cream," a three-spot campaign for British beer
company Boddington. The three ads combine 2D animation with 3D background
and CGI effects. The design of the characters and the overall look of the
films were created at Filmtecknarna under the creative direction of Stig
Bergqvist and Jonas Dahlbeck. The sound editing and overall production
management was handled by London-based Nexus Films with producer Chris
O´Reilly in charge.

QUIET MAN completes open for Sci-Fi Channel

New York City-based QUIET MAN has completed "Caterpillar," a :20 CGI show
open for the Sci-Fi Channel, a cable service. The spot features a robot
caterpillar who changes into a metallic spider. Todd Mueller directed.

TOPIX/MAD DOG does spot for Russell Stover

Toronto-based TOPIX/MAD DOG has completed the computer animated :15 Russell
Stover Peanut Butter and Jelly Cups "Oil Well" for Russell Stover and
Berstein-Rein. For the spot, TOPIX/Mad Dog developed proprietary fluid
dynamics software that can be customized to replicate jelly spurting out of
an "oil" derrick. Done in Softimage, the spot features little chocolate
construction workers who become excited when their derrick hits jelly. Sean
Montgomery directed.

Passion Pictures completes Nouvelle tissue spot

London-based PASSION PICTURES' CG animation director Chris Knott and post
production house RUSHES' Paul Wratten have finished "Very Boggy," a :40
spot for Nouvelle toilet tissue. In the spot a variety of toilets open and
shut in time to the music of Handel's "Water Music." CG animator Chris
Knott reproduced the toilet seats which were first shot as live-action
reference. Mark Wilson completed all the builds, surfacing, lighting, and
compositing in Lightwave 5.6.

Graphiti Multimedia completes Pepsodent spot

Mumbai, India-based GRAPHITI MULTIMEDIA has completed "The Case of the
Missing Tooth" for Pepsodent, a 7-minute infomercial in which detectives
Sqeezy, a tube of toothpaste, and Bristles, a toothbrush, work their way
through a tooth maze, battle germs in a haunted house, peer into a food
cave, and are lectured by a dentist who explains to them the benefits of
good oral hygiene. Traditional line drawings were used to create the
characters, but environments were produced in 3D Studio Max. Cambridge

Super 78 does spot for YouBet.com

graphics for a :30 spot, "Wanna Bet?," for YouBet.com, a new thoroughbred
horseracing on-line wagering service.

Mixin Pixls animates spot for DiTech.com

Santa Monica, California-based Mixin Pixls completed the computer animation
for "Mouse," a spot for DiTech.com in which a computer comes to life and
tells its owner about DiTech.com. Live-action was directed by Ken Roberts
for Laguna Beach, California-based Ken Roberts Productions.

Ring of Fire completes visual effects for Ininiti spots

Hollywood-based Ring of Fire has completed the visual effects for two spots
for the Nissan Infiniti Q45 SUV sedan. "Monoframe" shows the solid, steel
chassis of the Infiniti Q45 SUV sedan falling toward the Mojave Desert,
then transforming into a shining Infiniti Q45 when it hits the ground.
"Flower" uses time-lapse photography to show a flower blooming in the glow
of the head lamps of a new Infiniti Q45. Live-action was directed by Nico
Beyer for New York-based Compass Films, and TBWA Chiat/Day was the agency.

Graphiti animates Wimpy's Fast Food

India-based Graphiti Multimedia has completed a :20 spot for Wimpy's Fast
Food (New Delhi, India). The spot features a jolly and plump animated man
who entices viewers by wielding his fork around live footage of a Wimpy's
cheeseburger and fries. Graphiti used Cambridge Animation Systems' Animo
software. Puneet directed for production company Chaitra Leo Burnette
(Delhi).

QUIET MAN does spot for Denny's

QUIET MAN did the CGI effects for "Limo," a spot for Denny's new All-Star
Slams line of breakfast combos. A follow-up to last summer's "Rooster,"
"Limo" features a studish rooster wooing a barnyard of lovesick hens to the
beat of The Commodore's "Love Machine." Michael Schrom directed for
production company Michael Schrom & Company; Marie Lenz was executive
producer, and Philana Dias was Flame/effects artist for Quiet Man.

Interface Media Group animates PSA

Washington, D.C.-based Interface Media Group did the 3D animation for
"Warning Label." Developed through Washington, D.C.-based Ogilvy Public
Relations Worldwide for the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta,
Georgia, the spots use two 3D characters, Carson and Noma, to help stress
the need for protection from ultra-violet sunrays to avoid skin cancer.
Carol Hilliard was art director and 3D animator. Live-action footage was
produced by Washington, D.C.-based ThinkFilm. Joe Becker directed and
Stephanie Antosca Boright produced for ThinkFilm.

BLACK LOGIC & AFCG create Cinnaburst spot

New York City-based BLACK LOGIC and AFCG have created Cinnaburst gum's
"Snowboarder" spot for agency Bates USA. The spot features a bouncing CG
created piece of gum in a snowboarding environment. Floyd Gillis directed
the CGI for AFCG, Michel Suissa directed the visual effects for Black
Logic, and Geoff McGann directed the spot for Manifesto which combines
live-action with CGI.

Graphiti Multimedia completes Titan Clocks spot

India-based Graphiti Multimedia has completed a :20 spot for Titan Alarm
Clocks using Cambridge Animation Systems' Animo and 3D Studio MAX software.
In the commercial, the prince from the "Sleeping Beauty" fairy tale uses an
alarm clock to wake the princess. Sunil Shetty directed.

The Association of Independent Commercial Producers' (AICP) Eighth Annual
AICP Show, The Art & Technique of the American Television Commercial,
debuted at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City on June 9th, and will

Will Vinton Studios completes "Diner" and "Bunnies"

Portland, Oregon-based Will Vinton Studios has completed two spots. "Diner"
is a stop-motion animated spot for the Maryland Lottery, and won a 1999
Bronze Clio. Skeets McGrew directed for Agency Eisner & Associates.
"Bunnies" is a spot for Citibank and uses reference footage based on an
origami artist's work which was manipulated using Maya software. Skeets
McGrew directed for Agency Y & R New York.

Class-Key Chew-Po creates shampoo spot

Los Angeles-based Class-Key Chew-Po Commercials and Absolutely Productions
Limited have created "Lunch Order," a spot for Procter & Gamble's Head &
Shoulders Menthol shampoo. The spot features an animated "Jittery Julian"
who transforms into a confidant "Cool Jules" after using the shampoo.
Class-Key Chew-Po's Stig Bergqvist directed for Agency Saatchi &
Saatchi/London.

(Colossal) makes Marshmallow Alpha-bits

San Francisco-based (Colossal) Pictures has completed "I Scream" for Kraft Foods Marshmallow Alpha-bits. Directed by Charlie Canfield for Agency Ogilvy & Mather L.A., the spot is about a group of marshmallow vowels joining up for a rowdy "I scream for ice cream" game. The spot uses traditional cel and computer animation. San Francisco-based Giant Killer Robots did the CGI.
