Cuppa Coffee Scares Up Promos For Spike's SCREAM 2008

When Spike TV needed some spooky spots promoting their 2008 SCREAM Awards, they turned to the frighteningly fresh minds at Cuppa Coffee Studios. This marks the second year in a row that Cuppa Coffee has produced promos for Spike TV's festival honoring the best in comic, fantasy, sci-fi and horror films. Last year's series of promos saw the studio pick up a Gold award at the BDA/Promax awards in the category of Art Direction and Design: Topical Campaign.

The promos tell the tale of a lone road warrior whose sole purpose is to deliver the Spike SCREAM award to the show while fighting off clone zombies, an alien and a demonic she-beast. The spots were designed as a hybrid of CG animation and live action, requiring two days of greenscreen shooting with a cast of actors, several sets and a '73 Pontiac LeMans muscle car.

This footage was combined with CG animation of speeding cars, attacking monsters and desert road environments. The final series of spots includes three main promos and three tangent sponsor spots, integrating products and signage from Captain Morgan, Taco Bell and Subaru.
