Press Release from Absolute

Yes, the video for British band Goldfrapp's latest synthpop single was cool before VFX studio Absolute got its hands on it. (Vampire aerobics dancers and goth thugs in leather pants? Yes, please.) But after Absolute worked its magic on Alive, the music video launched into psychedelic territory.

Singer Alison Goldfrapp, already mesmerizing in a shimmery white gown, now beams white lasers from her fingertips, and her most dramatic arm gestures leave a rainbow trail. Her collection of girly vampire dancers apparate on the scene with a stuttered halo effect around their leotard-clad bodies. The dancers' white fangs grow before your eyes, and the blood that drips from their mouths and pools around their goth victims looks like glittery, multicolored juice.

"The effects required technical precision, and creatively, they had to fit the style of the music and the performers," said Absolute Executive Producer Sally Heath. "It was challenging, but it was a blast, too. It's not every day you get to work with '80s-style vampire dancers!"

Alive premiered May 18.
