VARIETY reports that Columbia is in works on a sequel to GHOST RIDER. David Goyer will devise the story and oversee the writers. Nicolas Cage has said that he is eager to reprise the role. Avi Arad, Michael De Luca and Steven Paul are the producers and Gary Foster is the exec producer.
With the Disney acquisition of Marvel pending, studios that hold film rights to Marvel properties are anxious to get new films in the works so that the rights do not revert back to Marvel. Recently, Fox announced a redux of FANTASTIC FOUR, a DAREDEVIL sequel and a SILVER SURFER spin-off. Meanwhile, Sony is working on a fourth, fifth and sixth SPIDER-MAN film, while Universal has dusted off their SUB-MARINER project.
