Press Release from Clear View School

NEW YORK METRO AREA -- On Saturday, November 7, 2009 The Clear View School in Briarcliff Manor will host its 24th Annual Dinner Auction to benefit the 119 emotionally troubled children enrolled in its day treatment program. Clear View School first opened its doors in 1968 and was the only day school of its kind in Westchester County, and one of the first in the country.

The annual auction has become a very popular event, and each year features the sale of original, signed cartoon art. This year contributions have been received from R. Crumb, Frank Miller, Jim Lee and many others. Vacation trips are also offered to such destinations as the Costa del Sol in Spain, Florence, Italy, Hawaii and St. Maarten, along with inviting weekend trips to various points in the U.S.

The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with wine and hors d'oeuvres, followed by Dinner and a Live and Silent Auction.  The Live Auction will be conducted by Ivan Cohen, ably assisted by his wife, Laura. Dinner will be catered by Fabulous Foods of Tarrytown, New York.

Proceeds from the evening will be used primarily toward the restoration of the School's two classroom buildings which have served the Clear View program since 1981. The older of the two, built in 1915, was designed by the renowned architect, Welles Bosworth, who restored the Versailles Gardens after World War I.  It is an historically significant building particularly because of its exquisite little theater which has welcomed, and continues to welcome, many world famous performers to its stage.  In recent years the Honorary Chairperson of the School, the renowned actress, Miss Julie Harris, has frequently been one of those who have generously performed for the benefit of Clear View's children.

Tickets for the evening are $150 each. For more information about The Clear View School and the auction, contact Anna Hlotyak at 914-941-4653, ahlotyak@aol.com or visit the School's website at www.clearviewschool.org.
