City Of Lights, City Of Angels: A Week Of New French Films

* Tuesday, April 25 - Saturday, April 29, 2000. Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. This year marks the fourth annual City of Lights, City of Angels: A Week of New French Films. Over the past three years, the five-day film event has boasted an attendance of over 4000 industry members and cine-philes. This year, the series will feature A MONKEY'S TALE directed by Jean-Francois Laguionie. This animated feature takes place in a parallel universe inhabited by two races of monkeys: one tree-dwelling, the other ground-dwelling. Since these two worlds never meet, they have forgotten that they used to be one community until one day when the adventurous young Kom falls from the trees to the ground. The film features the voices of: Matt Hill, Sally-Anne Marsh, Michael York and John Hurt. The event is being co-sponsored and funded in large part by monies from the Franco-American Cultural Fund, a collaborative effort between the Directors Guild of America (DGA), the Motion Picture Association (MPA), France's Society of Authors, Composers and Editors of Music (SACEM) and the Writers Guild of America, west (WGAw). The event is co-presented by France's L'ARP (Auteurs, Realisateurs, Producteurs), the French Film & Television Office in Los Angeles and UCLA Film and Television Archive, which has programmed the festival for the fourth straight year.
