Since 1977, Cinanima has been promoting the international art of animation in Espinho, a city located on the Northern coast of Portugal. The festival capped off a week of screenings and seminars with its awards presentation on November 10, 2002. Zoia Trofimova's LE TROP PETIT PRINCE took home the Grand Prize and Dave Unwin's WAR GAME took home the Alves Costa Journalists Prize. Portuguese filmmaker Jose Miguel Ribeiro won the FNAC Prize for best Portuguese script and also won the Best Portuguese Cartoon prize for his film AS COISAS LA DE CASA.
